About

A graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, UK, Mike has performed extensively on percussion and piano across many genres of music. Equally at home in symphony orchestras, jazz ensembles, Afro Cuban latin-jazz groups, solo contemporary music and musical theatre he brings level of assurance and musicality to any setting.

Performance experience includes concerts, broadcasts and recordings with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Caxixi, Apitos, Purple Circle, the Apollo Saxophone Quartet; festival appearances include the Manchester Jazz Festival, the Harare International Festival of the Arts (Zimbabwe), the BBC Proms; musical theatre experience includes Les Miserables, Cats, Evita, the Phantom of the Opera (UK tours) and The Lion King (London).

From 2004 to 2012 Mike was the Director of Percussion Studies at Canterbury Christ Church University and directed the CCCU Big Band from 2008 to 2012, including three tours to Spain and several awards at the prestigious National Concert Band Festival.

Alongside performances at jazz clubs and festivals, Mike currently appears every Wednesday at the Stardust Jazz Bar in El Puerto de Santa Maria playing vibraphone in the house band.
